bmi Improves Flight Network With Continental Codeshare
bmi has agreed a new transatlantic codeshare deal with Continental Airlines, an article on the TravelMole website has reported.
Continental Airlines is now the 25th member of the Star Alliance, the airline alliance to which bmi is associated. The codeshare benefits both airlines as it enables them to offer passengers more airport choice and connecting flights.
As a result of the deal, bmi will be able to offer flights from London Heathrow Airport, Birmingham International, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and Brussels to George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston and Newark Liberty International Airport in New York.
The pact between bmi and Continental Airlines will enhance connecting flights between the United States and other routes on bmi’s network. It will also allow Continental Airlines to sell flight tickets on many bmi routes to the UK, along with Belfast and Amman in Jordan.
bmi is keen to add more members to its Star Alliance agreements, and recently revealed a codeshare with Aegean Airlines to improve flights to Greece. Codesharing helps bmi stay competitive within the travel sector.
Katherine Gershon, bmi sales and marketing director said: “Our new codeshare agreement with Continental will mean our customers have the opportunity to travel on new services between our key departure points and the United States. Starting with Newark and Houston, we hope to extend our collaboration with Continental to other destinations in the Americas.”
Continental’s executive vice-president, Jim Compton said: “We are delighted to sign this agreement with bmi, our new Star Alliance partner, which enables us to offer our customers an even greater range of travel options.”
