World's Top Ten Holiday Destinations Revealed
Leading experts have named the top ten places in the world for Holidaymakers to visit on their travels, in a new report this week. The Association of Independent Tour Operators (Aito) has predicted that travellers will put growing emphasis on finding "responsible" Holidays, especially in light of tour operators' enthusiasm to meet stringent ethical criteria.
Aito chairman Derek Moore told Travelbite.com: "2008 is the year when responsible travel will truly become an intrinsic issue for travellers.
"I would strongly recommend people book with a tour operator that takes seriously its responsibilities to the environment"
At the top of Aito's list was Tresco in the Isles of Scilly, which it describes as an "exclusive, luxury development", closely followed by Naples in Italy for the scenic coastal routes which it neighbours.
City breaks in France, western Iceland and Monte Carlo in Monaco also made it onto the list.
Earlier this week, travel experts at a UK airport predicted that New York would be in the top ten most visited destinations during the Christmas period due to its excellent shopping facilities.
