Wine Lovers Head to South African Festival This Summer

Wine Lovers Head to South African Festival This Summer The Persia to Paarl Festival will be held in South Africa's Cape Winelands next month, giving fans of this type of beverage the chance to indulge their passion.

On August 16th the festival will recreate the essence of Persia at the Nederburg wine estate, which is located just outside the Boland town of Paarl, north-east of Cape Town.

The event is themed around the Shiraz grape, which originated in Iran around 7,000 years ago and has since gone on to be one of the wine industry's most famous ingredients.

Visitors will be presented with a free wine glass when they attend, as well as the chance to watch demonstrations of the arts and crafts of ancient Persia.

Sandra Lotz is the chief executive officer of the firm running the Persia to Paarl Festival.

"We annually celebrate the Shiraz cultivar because of the special affinity Shiraz vines have for the Paarl terroir, thus gracing wine drinkers with world-class wines," she said.

Other wine shows worth a visit include the Johnstown Film and Wine Festival in Pennsylvania - which was held earlier this month - and Primavera, a wine festival held in Queensland, Australia during their spring season.
