UK's Coastal Resorts are Attracting New Visitors

UKs Coastal Resorts are Attracting New Visitors The UK's coastal resorts are attracting new visitors, thanks to recent regeneration projects, one expert has said this week.

National tourism agency VisitBritain made the claim, adding that hotels and attractions have begun targeting different audiences, such as a younger market in Brighton through the fashion industry.

Sian Brenchley, spokesperson for VisitBritain, said: "Brighton's a kind of fashion mecca to younger people, and you've also got coastal resorts around the UK capitalising on the food revolution – like Whitstable offering oysters."

Ms Brenchley added that this is "fantastic news" as it gives visitors to this country diverse holiday opportunities to experience while they are here.

Earlier this month, the culture secretary Andy Burnham earmarked Blackpool, Dover and Torbay as the first seaside resorts to benefit from the 'Sea Change' funding programme.

These resorts will each receive £4 million for their regeneration, while up to another 12 towns will benefit from smaller sums.
