Turkey is 'Preferred Choice' for Brits

Turkey is Preferred Choice for Brits Tourists from the UK prefer to travel to Turkey for their holiday, a hotelier has said.

Turkish Hotels Federation chairman Ahmet Barut believes that British holidaymakers are visiting the country instead of the usually popular Spain and Greece, reported HotNewsTurkey.com.

He commented that figures for tourists visiting Turkey were up by 17 per cent, expanding the nation's holiday industry to other Europeans, with German visitors topping the list of those vacationing there.

Mr Barut noted that the current financial climate is making the country a more attractive option.

He told the Anatolian Agency: "Such interest of British travellers stems from the fact that Europe is now much more expensive for them.

"British pound's losing value compared to euro helped the Turkish tourism sector."

Yesterday, the Press Association revealed that more than two million people would be going on holiday this week after the schools close for the summer, with the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) naming Turkey alongside Egypt and the USA as the most popular destinations.
