Tourists 'More Interested in Jamie Oliver than the Queen'
The 'Naked Chef' Jamie Oliver has more tourist appeal than the Queen, according to new research.A poll conducted by national tourism board, VisitBritain, revealed that visitors are not too fussed about posing for cheesy snaps outside Buckingham Palace.
German, Norwegian and French holidaymakers were particularly dismissive about a royal encounter, ranking Buckingham Palace only just above a full English breakfast on their must-do list.
Instead, they would rather hunt down our celebrity chefs, watch a game of authentic English footy and sample our 24-hour-drinking culture.
VisitBritain spokesman, Elliot Frisby, said that the research "turned up some fascinating details".
"While Buckingham Palace is still a very popular tourist attraction, it's not the be all and end all of a visit to Britain," he added.
"It's more about the experience - going to a local pub and seeing what British culture is all about."
However, visitors from more exotic locations such as Malaysia, Mexico, India, Hungary and China still wanted their faces captured on film outside the famous gates.
