Top Ten Latin American Holidays Revealed It may be winter in the UK, but in Latin America the summer months are only just beginning to hot up making it the perfect retreat.

Journey Latin America has just released its new travel brochure in which it names the top ten South and Central American destinations, helping holidaymakers decide which of the sunny countries to jet-off to.

Top of the firm's list is Belize's Toledo district, which is best known for its diving sites, "incredible" Caribbean coastline and wildlife.

Holidaymakers can enjoy jungle visits, wildlife trips and cultural excursions to the region's organic cocoa farms, which supply top chocolate brand Green and Blacks' Maya Gold Bars.

Also on Journey Latin America's list are Guatemala's Peten jungle region, Nicaragua's Corn Islands and El Silencia Lodge and Spa in Costa Rica.

Columbia, which has recently been promoted by its president Alvaro Uribe as a growing tourist hot-spot, has also made it onto the list.

The Zona Cafetera area of the country is recommended to holidaymakers by the tour operator as "with the impending film release of Love in the Time of Cholera, Colombia is set to firmly arrive on the tourist scene next year."

Journey Latin America continues: "With Cartagena as a focus of the film and Bogotá on New York Times' latest hot-list, Colombia is set to sizzle."

Other destinations in the top ten include Panama, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Peru, which all have something unique to offer holidaymakers.
