Thomson links up with TripAdvisor
Holiday giant Thomson has joined forces with review website TripAdvisor.The partnership will mean that when customers on Thomson's website click on the average rating of a hotel they will be shown TripAdvisor's five most recent consumer reviews, together with more detailed ratings.
TripAdvisor.com features more than 2,000 property reviews written by consumers who have stayed at the resorts and ratings can range between good, bad and average.
It also offers a social networking-style feature on its site, where users can share holiday experiences.
Holiday retailer Thomson now operates 60 per cent of its business online and new media director for the company Graham Donoghue said that this level of integration between travel operator and commentator was "a UK first".
A division of TUI UK, Thomson holidays employs 3,000 people worldwide and is the sister company of Thomsonfly.com, the UK's third largest airline.
Based at London Luton Airport, Thomsonfly.com, which flies from 20 UK airports to over 80 destinations, was formed in 1962 and was formerly known as Britannia airlines.
