Tenerife is a Family Holiday Destination

Tenerife is a Family Holiday Destination More parents are now taking their children to the Spanish island of Tenerife, new research has revealed.

Tenerife News reports that a survey of visitors to the island, conducted by Tourism of Tenerife, found that family tourism is up 18 per cent compared with 2007.

Of the families who have visited Tenerife in 2008 so far, 13.3 per cent had a child of 15 or under.

This is an increase of 4.3 per cent compared with 2007.

Meanwhile, it appears the Spanish island has won favour with the Russians who are increasingly holidaying in the sun-soaked nation.

Furthermore, German, Danish and Italian holidaymakers have also been making a beeline for Spanish shores with a growing frequency.

According to the Lonely Planet travel guide, Tenerife has more to offer holidaymakers than many other Spanish islands, such as Ibiza.

It adds that on Tenerife travellers will find a contrast in landscape between the "barren east coast… (and) lush northwest", while the "rocky north seems worlds away from the playgrounds of the southwest".
