Tenerife 'Developing A Luxurious Image'

Tenerife Developing A Luxurious Image Tenerife is making a name for itself as a haven of culture and luxury, one travel writer suggests.

Among its attractions are impressive hotels, fine food, the Mount Teide volcano and the island's capital Santa Cruz, according to Gareth Scurlock, writing for the Times.

Furthermore, he points out that 28 species of whale and dolphin are reported to have been spotted in the strait.

Mr Scurlock states that Mount Teide dominates Tenerife's interior - its peak at 3,718 metres making it Spain's highest mountain.

Referring to his visit to the volcano, he adds: "The National Park is excellent for exploring the lunar landscape and 150 people a day are allowed access to the peak via a cable car."

According to webtenerifeuk.co.uk, visitors to the island at any time of year can enjoy a wide range of cultural festivals, of both the traditional Canarian and more modern variety.

It points to religious processions known as the Romerias, as well as Canarian wrestling and carnivals, as among the slices of authentic culture waiting to be sampled by people who travel to the island.
