Strong Demand for Traditional Holidays

Strong Demand for Traditional Holidays There is currently a "strong demand for traditional destinations" one industry expert has said this week.

First Choice, which offers a wide range of holidays and charter flights across the world, made the claims, noting that there is also a market for "newer long-haul" locations.

A spokesperson for First Choice, said: "Demand for package holidays is strong both for 'traditional' destinations such as Spain, Cyprus, and Egypt, and for our newer long-haul destinations such as Mexico, Costa Rica, and Cuba."

Research by Halifax Travel Insurance has revealed recently that 2.5 million Brits take package holidays to exotic destinations every year.

However, during those holidays, travellers only spend seven hours away from their hotels on average.

Furthermore, another 70 per cent of Brits taking a package holiday never visit the local modern tourist attractions, such as theme or water parks.

In related news, travel guide publisher Footprint has said this week that the majority of writers in this industry have an in-depth knowledge of the country they are covering.

The firm's comments follow recent claims from a Lonely Planet travel writer who says that he did not visit Columbia even though he wrote about the country.
