South Africa and US Ripe for Cheap Holidays
Holidaymakers seeking a bargain break should head to eastern Europe, South Africa and the US, one industry expert has advised this week.According to Travelex.co.uk, those looking to get the best value for their money should head to these destinations, where the sterling exchanges favourably.
John Nicholas, director of Travelex.co.uk, said: "Destinations which still have their own currency such as Slovakia, Bulgaria and Croatia are continuing to gain popularity with tourists year-on-year.
"Holidaymakers travelling to these destinations find that they get a better value for their pound against the local currency."
Mr Nicholas added that the pound has remained "consistently strong" against the dollar, which has made summer breaks in the US popular, as they offer holidaymakers a "good return on investment".
According to research published by the Post Office earlier this month, the pound is now worth 17 per cent less against the Euro than it was in the same month last year.
However, in some destinations the sterling has gained, such as in Jamaica where it is up 19 per cent against the nation's dollar and the United Arab Emirates where a 11.5 per cent gain has been made on the dirham.
