Skilled Workers Sought to Volunteer Abroad

Skilled Workers Sought to Volunteer Abroad Skilled workers are being sought to volunteer abroad by the Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO).

According to the VSO, those in occupations as diverse as plastic surgeons, teachers and boat builders are needed to help the organisation in its work in locations all around the globe.

Neera Dhingra, a spokesperson for the VSO, said: "We work across five key areas and education and HIV/Aids are two of the main areas we work in.

"The range of volunteers is wider than you might think. As well as the education staff and healthcare professionals, we also need business and management skills."

She added that the organisation also works to make sure that people can earn a living and a daily wage, whether that be through developing a small business to agriculture and managing land more effectively, so it is looking for a wide range of skills.

This year the VSO is celebrating its 50th birthday. Since its conception it has recruited over 32,000 volunteers in 119 countries.

Big names such as Jon Snow, Katie Adie and George Alagiah have recently lent their support to the work of the organisation.
