Poll Reveals Holidaymakers' Top Travel Choices

Poll Reveals Holidaymakers Top Travel Choices Singapore has the best airport in the world and New Zealand is the top country to visit, according to a new travel poll.

The annual Wanderlust Travel Awards are based on an independent survey of nearly 3,000 readers of the UK-based publication.

Asian bases further featured in the results, with hong kong International and Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi joining Singapore Changi in the top three airports.

Wanderlust attributed New Zealand's success to its breathtaking scenery, highlighted in blockbusters like The Lord of the Rings and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

"Visitors come to New Zealand looking for unique, authentic experiences so the fact that this award is based on visitor satisfaction is something our tourism industry can be very proud of," remarked George Hickton, Tourism New Zealand's chief executive.

In a separate survey of the best worldwide holiday destinations last year, readers of the Daily Telegraph also revealed Australia's neighbour to be their number one choice.

Regarding major airlines, respondents to the Wanderlust poll agreed that Singapore Airlines is the best.

Its new Airbus A380 superjumbo took off for the first time last year, with passengers treated to champagne and certificates on board.
