Political Leaders Choose British Holidays

Political Leaders Choose British Holidays Both Gordon Brown and David Cameron will be staying in the UK this year for their family holidays, following an increasing trend in those turning to domestic venues for a break.

Mr Brown will be heading to Southwold in Suffolk, while opposition leader Mr Cameron will be travelling to the north of Cornwall.

The Suffolk town, which was voted the most "quintessentially British" place in the country, has a Blue Flag beach, and is home to Rowan Atkinson and Richard Curtis as well as the Sole Bay Brewery where Adnams make their award-winning ales.

Mr Cameron is expected to stay in Harlyn Bay near Padstow in Cornwall, which is home to the Trevose Golf and Country Club (host of the last Amateur Stroke Play Championships), as well as coastal and rural walks.

Last year, Mr Brown's holiday in Dorset was cut short after just four hours due to the foot-and-mouth outbreak followed by floods across the country.
