People 'Seek Exotic Short-Haul Festive Breaks'

People Seek Exotic Short-Haul Festive Breaks People are seeking to go "somewhere different" but not too far away from home for a holiday this Christmas, according to an industry expert.

Many UK-based holidaymakers will look for "relatively short-haul" holiday destinations, suggests Graham McKenzie, managing director of the TravelMole website.

He believes that people will especially travel to areas such as eastern Europe, the Middle East and north Africa over the festive period.

Mr McKenzie says: "Those that are outside the Euro zone, such as Egypt and Turkey — they'll continue to be popular."

In addition, he states Montenegro and Serbia are "re-emerging on to the tourism scene", while Amman in Jordan will also certainly be a place that people will visit.

A new survey published by internet search engine Kayak.co.uk has found more than a third of people are willing to travel over ten hours in order to reach their dream Christmas destination.

Just two per cent of respondents said they would prefer a single-sex blokes' or girls' holiday this December.
