Parents Advised to Take Children on Stimulating Breaks
Parents should choose particularly stimulating breaks when taking their children away on holiday, a travel commentator suggests.
This is because children have different needs to adults when it comes to a holiday, as they are "full of energy" and have inquisitive minds, according to Vincent Crump, writing for The Sunday Times.
The effect of experiencing the great wonders of the world in childhood can last a lifetime, the expert believes.
Commenting on one of several potentially ideal holiday destinations for children, Mr Crump says: "Barcelona is a city that looks as if it was designed expressly for children, with beaches, a giant aquarium, food served in snack-sized portions, even its own chocolate museum."
The Gaudi-designed Park Guell in the city has a particular appeal for children, he adds, with its many exciting colours, mini-houses and monsters coming together to captivate their imagination.
According to barcelona-tourist-guide.com, Park Guell was originally commissioned as a stylish park for the aristocracy of the city.
It states that the park has a variety of amazing features, including "stunning" tiling, a dragon and a walkway which is supported by rock pillars in the style of tree trunks.
