Online Hold Baggage Check-In Introduced by easyJet

Online Hold Baggage Check-In Introduced by easyJet A new service has been launched by the low-cost airline easyJet to make checking-in hold baggage easier for holidaymakers and travellers.

Designed to take the hassle out of the airport check-in process, passengers can now check-in both hand luggage and hold luggage online via easyJet’s website.

Travellers then simply take their online check-in boarding card with them when they go to the luggage drop point at the airport, easyJet’s corporate site reported yesterday (30 November).

The online check-in will allow passengers jetting off on holiday or on a business trip to spend less time at the airport, waiting to check luggage in. The leading low-cost airline in Europe has said that the majority of easyJet flights will offer this new facility.

Online baggage check-in will be available at 94 of easyJet’s 112 airports and covers most of the popular holiday destination flight routes. The remaining 18 airports, which will introduce the new service soon, include Casablanca, Dalaman, Dusseldorf, Sharm El Sheikh, Split, Stockholm, Tangiers and Vienna.

Travellers can still opt for the traditional check-in process at all airports and the airline has promised not to follow Ryanair by charging passengers for airport check-ins.

Dana Dunne, easyJet’s Chief Commercial Officer explained in a press statement: “When you add the new bag drop facility to our existing 60 day advance on-line check-in capability, it makes for a great product advantage. Most customers with hold bags can now pre-print their boarding passes for both outward and return journeys before leaving home - and get through the airport quicker too.”
