New Superjumbo to Boost Comfort and Green Travel
Travellers keen to experience the world's biggest passenger plane have been promised even more choice and cabin comfort by its manufacturers.Commenting on the delivery of the second superjumbo to Singapore Airlines, Airbus representatives highlighted the jet's luxury as well as its environmental attributes.
"The A380 has been acknowledged as meeting, and often exceeding, the commitments made to its customers in terms of range, fuel burn, noise, and cabin comfort it truly delivers on its promises," the company remarked in a statement.
With almost 500 people on board, the first Airbus A380 superjumbo touched down at Sydney International airport in October after taking off from Singapore.
Flight attendants handed out champagne and certificates to passengers on the giant aircraft, some of whom had paid tens of thousands of dollars in an online auction for seats.
Singapore Airlines' second jet will also be used for flights between Singapore and Sydney, while Virgin Atlantic is currently in talks to invest in a number of the planes.
The A380, as tall as a seven-story building with each wing big enough to hold 70 cars, is capable of carrying 853 passengers.
