New Riviera Ship Announced by Oceania Cruises

New Riviera Ship Announced by Oceania Cruises The name of Oceania Cruises' latest ship currently under construction, was announced at the floating-out ceremony of the company’s Marina vessel. Riviera is set to make its debut in April 2012 and is a copy of Oceania Cruises' first new-build ship, the 1,200-berth Marina.

The cruise line has three second-hand ships, previously owned by the now defunct Renaissance Cruises.

Riviera is under construction at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Genoa, Italy. Marina will enter service next January, and according to CEO and chairman of Oceania Cruises' parent company, Prestige Cruise Holdings, Frank del Rio: “The only thing better than one new ship is two new ships.”

If Marina is anything to go by, then Riviera will be another luxury ship to add to the company’s portfolio. As an exact replica of Marina, the latest ship is set to offer 10 dining venues. Marina also boasts a Culinary Centre with 24 work stations and a wine tasting centre. There is a library featuring a coffee bar. Wrap-around windows overlook the pool deck, which is themed as a South Beach.

The vessel debuts a new bedding system which will eventually be adopted on all ships owned by the company. This is called the Prestige Imperial bed, a 1.5-inch slab of memory foam mattress with two inches of gel cushion.

The ship also features three 2,000-square-foot Owner’s Suites with fixtures and furniture from the Ralph Lauren Home collection. An automatically playing baby grand piano is another feature and New York furniture designer, Dakota Jackson, is involved in the decoration of upper-end suites.
