Moroccan City 'Pulls In The Tourists'

Moroccan City Pulls In The Tourists The Moroccan city of Fes might be set to become more popular with tourists, according to a travel expert.

New twice-weekly flights to the destination from Gatwick "most probably" mean that the historic city will attract more visitors, suggests Sharron Livingston, editor of thetravelmagazine.net.

Easier access must surely be a "good omen" for a city which is already increasingly popular, she states.

Commenting on some of its many attractions, Ms Livingston says: "Fes, Morocco's fourth-largest city, is the country's religious, cultural and culinary capital."

Its thousands of walled alleyways are "bustling" with markets and trading, she adds.

According to Business Monitor International's Morocco Tourism Report 2008, there was a 14 per cent year-on-year increase in arrivals to the country during the first 11 months of 2007.

It revealed that a total of 6.72 million tourists travelled to Morocco in that period, with most originating from France, followed by Spain, Belgium and the UK.
