Mainland Spain is Much Better for Holiday Homes

Mainland Spain is Much Better for Holiday Homes Mainland Spain has been described as a more liveable environment than the Balearic Islands to those looking for a holiday home this week.

The Spanish Property Owners Guild (SPOG) claimed that those who live on the Balearic Islands will experience chilly winters, higher prices and a limited medical service, and tipped the mainland as a better alternative.

SPOG spokesman, Paul Bradley said: "For me, the islands are great places to visit – even for a few months a year. But to live there permanently, the downsides would slowly eat into the upsides and gradually become the overriding experience."

He added that his family had opted to buy a house in the Costa Del Sol instead, where the wintertime is still warm, medical services are widely available, and prices for food are lower due to more competition for customers.

The Balearic Islands are situated between the north African coast and southern Spain.

The main four islands are Menorca, Majorca, Ibiza, and Formentera.
