Liverpool's Capital of Culture Celebrations Attracting Holidaymakers
Liverpool's Capital of Culture celebrations are attracting Holidaymakers on city breaks, one expert has revealed.Elliott Frisby of official tourist board VisitBritain made the claim, adding that he expects other destinations around England, such as Whitby, the Lake District and Cornwall, to perform well in the summer months this year.
Mr Frisby said: "It's difficult for us to predict where the next hotspot is going to be.
"[However] we've noticed a bit of a trend for breaks with mates in self-catering accommodation Liverpool's Capital of Culture celebrations are attracting a lot of people."
He also tipped some forthcoming exhibits that Brits may be Travelling around the country to visit, including Ian Fleming's 'For Your Eyes Only' at the Imperial War Museum and the British Museum's 'Hadrian - Empire and Conflict' display.
According to the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions, 5.5 million people visited Blackpool Pleasure Beach in 2007, while 3.6 million took a trip to the Natural History Museum.
