Legend Pele To Join Cruise
Football legend Pelé is set to join holidaymakers on a Mediterranean cruise next summer, it has been announced.
Cruise company Costa is giving football fans the opportunity to join the cruise, which sets off from Venice on 28 June and docks back in the city on 5 July after various stops in Italy, Greece and Croatia.
The cruise will feature Brazilian-themed shows, festivals and dancing as well as an exhibition focusing on Pelé's achievements.
At a press conference held in Madrid to announce the itinerary, Pelé said: "The Costa Serena cruise, during which everything will be focused on Brazil, will spread joy throughout the entire eastern Mediterranean, with stops in Italy, Croatia and Greece.
"I look forward to seeing you all on board."
Costa Cruises is an Italian company which has been established for 60 years.
The firm boasts 12 ships in service plus five currently on order — and claims to have carried more than one million cruise passengers in 2007.
