Jazz Fans Groove in the Algarve

Jazz Fans Groove in the Algarve Holidaymakers seeking sun, sea and some top-quality music may want to head to Portugal this summer.

Between Friday July 25th and Sunday July 27th the Loulé International Jazz Festival will take place in the Algarve region, attracting some of the world's top musicians in this genre.

Since beginning in 1995, the festival has featured classic jazz trios, orchestras and singers, who often fuse jazz with other musical genres, such as blues, funk, classical and even pop-rock.

While in the Loulé area, AlgarveGolf.net recommends visiting the market town's castle, which dates back to the 12th century, or paying a trip to the local museum that explains the resort's history.

According to the Lonely Planet, the Algarve is as a "holiday haven", featuring warm seas, natural bays and dramatic cliffs, where holidaymakers can explore unspoilt islands.

It says that the weather in the region is pleasant all year round – "there is barely a winter" – and notes that in August temperatures sometimes reach 40 degrees Celsius.
