January Tipped as a Great Time to Visit the US
Holidaymakers are being encouraged to take a trip to the US in order to take advantage of its "great" Christmas sales, by one industry expert.A spokesperson for Stansted Airport highlighted the hubs range of trans-Atlantic flights as well as the favourable exchange rate of the dollar at the moment.
On November 7th the BBC reported that the UK pound had climbed past the $2.10 level against the US dollar the highest it had been in 26 years.
The spokesperson for BAA Stansted Airport said: "January is a great time to visit the US especially if you're looking to pick up a bargain in the post-Christmas sales.
"With Stansted providing direct links to four of the most popular cities (New York, Washington, Las Vegas and Los Angeles) and access to virtually unlimited connections across the States, visiting the US couldn't be easier at any time of the year."
Airlines MaxJet and Eos both operate business class only services to JFK airport in New York from Stansted while American Airlines provides a direct flight service between the two airports with economy class seats as well as business.
From April 2008 the US airline will increase the frequency of its flights from Stansted to JKF airport to twice daily.
