Improving Coastal Paths Boosts UK Tourism

Improving Coastal Paths Boosts UK Tourism Improving paths to increase access to England's coast will boost the nation's seaside tourism industry, according to one industry expert.

National tourism agency VisitBritain claims that English coastal holidays are currently growing in popularity, as Brits seek to recreate their own childhood memories.

Sian Brenchley, spokesperson for VisitBritain, said: "Rather than the traditional two-week holiday away, Brits are now taking weekend breaks spread out throughout the year.

"Opening up coastal paths will be a great way to encourage people to have a rural coastal holiday, to get out and about and enjoy Britain's coast and countryside."

Sian added that England's seaside resorts have "really regenerated in recent years" and are now able to offer the domestic holidaymaker a lot more than in previous years.

Earlier this month the Government published its draft marine bill, which has legislated a coastal margin that will allow people to walk for long distances along the English coast.

Furthermore, access has been improved to the coastline, including its beaches, cliffs, rocks and dunes under the bill.
