Holidays to Eastern Europe 'Cost Less'
Holidays to eastern Europe will cost travellers less money, an industry expert has said this week.According to Fregata Travel, which has been organising holidays in Europe for over 50 years, a growing number of tourists are taking breaks in this region to escape the high costs of traditional favourites, such as Paris and Barcelona.
Manager of Fregata Travel, Tim Campbell, said: "Although it is getting more expensive at quite a rapid rate nowadays, [eastern Europe] is still a lot cheaper than most traditional destinations.
"This applies to the hotels, the eating out and the entrance fees the whole lot is going to cost you a bit less than it would for more traditional western European destinations."
He added that a lot of people "want to do something different" on their holiday, which could also be a motivating factor for travelling to eastern Europe.
In February 2007, online intelligence service Hitwise revealed that internet traffic to Polish websites has increased ninefold over the last two years.
