Holidays Are Becoming Sacrosanct, Says Expert

Holidays Are Becoming Sacrosanct, Says Expert Holidays are becoming increasingly sacrosanct, one expert said this week.

Luxury Travel Magazine made the claim, adding that people are now less willing to cancel their holidays to save money than they were ten years ago.

Alyson Cook, editor of Luxury Travel Magazine, said: "I think in the past, even as recently as ten years ago, people have cancelled their holiday first and foremost and stayed at home."

She explained that because of the unpredictable weather in the UK and the emphasis on the importance of the family holiday, time away has climbed up people's list of priorities.

TravelMole reports that research carried out by ebookers.com found over 50 per cent of Brits now consider taking a holiday either important or absolutely necessary.

Furthermore, those polled said that they would be prepared to make sacrifices in order to safeguard their two weeks away.

The cutbacks holidaymakers are prepared to make include luxuries bought in the supermarket, having fewer nights out, and purchasing less clothing.
