Holidaymakers Go East to Dubai

Holidaymakers Go East to Dubai An increasing number of tourists will go east on their holidays this year and travel to Dubai, according to one industry expert.

Leading boutique travel and leisure consultancy Globalysis has made the claim, adding that international visitor arrivals into the capital of the United Arab Emirates will grow at a rate of eight per cent during 2008, reports the Travel News.

"The performance of Dubai's travel and leisure sector in 2008 has been favourable and the outlook moving forward remains bright," said Jason Pereira.

He added: "The combination of increased airline service to Dubai and high-quality tourism offerings is attracting the globally minded leisure tourist and sophisticated business traveller."

Globalysis goes on in its report to describe Dubai as a "dynamic" destination, that offers tourists a whole range of hotel options as well as "tourist-orientated luxury retail facilities".

The Lonely Planet travel guide calls Dubai a "flashy, fun and slight surreal" city, which has a bevy of shiny skyscrapers and award-winning hotels that make it a "breathtaking" place to visit.
