High-End Tourism in Turkey Set to Grow High-end tourism in Turkey will continue to grow, one industry expert has said this week.

According to the regional manager for luxury hotel chain Barceló Hotels and Resorts, Enrique Acrich Eckert, the country's luxuryholiday market is presently experiencing a boom.

He explained: "We are convinced of huge but fairly undeveloped potential in the Turkish luxury tourism sector."

Mr Eckert concluded that Turkey, like its Mediterranean neighbours and other eastern European countries new to the EU, is a "rapidly growing hotspot".

In related news, the Turkish culture and tourism minister, Ertugrul Gunay, announced this weekend that by 2023 the nation hopes to have hosted 50 million visitors.

Mr Gunay added the while global tourism is currently growing at a rate of 6.5 per cent, in Turkey it is increasing at 18 per cent.

Furthermore, the number of holidaymakers visiting Turkey rose by ten million in the period between 2003 and 2007.
