Greek Airline Adds Flights from Birmingham Airport

Greek Airline Adds Flights from Birmingham Airport Cheap flights to Greece and Saudi Arabia from Birmingham Airport will be easier thanks to Hellenic Imperial Airways beginning a new service, according to an article from TravelMole. The weekly service is to be launched this weekend and will see increased flights Athens from Birmingham.

The service also offers onward connections to the city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

Dependent upon the demand for the new service, Hellenic Imperial Airlines is hoping to extend the service to twice a week in August. The airplane used for the flights will be a 450 seater Boeing 747-200.

The flights will all take place in the evening, with flights arriving at the Midlands airport on a Saturday at 7pm. It will then return to Athens and Jeddah at 10 o’clock at night. An overnight flight is scheduled for Monday, with the aircraft arriving at Birmingham Airport at 5pm, and leaving to arrive in Athens and Jeddah at 10 o’clock the next day.

Pricing is not unreasonable, with return flights starting from just £199 to Athens. Travelling to Jeddah will cost around £399, with all of these prices excluding airport taxes.

The airline’s chairman, Talal Abureyal, said: “Athens, which is our HQ, is not currently served from Birmingham so we expect that our flights will be welcomed by those travelling for business and leisure, in particular those visiting friends and relatives.” Its commercial manager, Theo Silvestros, added: “As the principal gateway to Mecca, the Jeddah flights to be used by many pilgrims wanting to access Islam’s holiest city, and with such competitive prices Midlands people will be able to start this important journey from their doorstep.”
