Golfers should check insurance

Golfers should check insurance People embarking on a golfing holiday ought to ensure that their clubs are fully insured before going away, one expert has suggested.

Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive for the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba), said that travel insurance policies vary in what they actually cover.

It is important that travellers consider exactly what they are taking with them to make sure they are adequately insured, the expert stated.

"Golf clubs can be valuable, so look at what the limit is on your travel insurance to see whether it covers the golf clubs," he explained.

Additionally, the reason for your trip may affect your cover, with those playing golf in a competition may require specialist insurance, Mr Trudgill added.

Research conducted by Biba recently found that less than half of those taking insurance from their travel agents or tour operators were given advice about hazardous sports.
