Ghana Becomes a Tasty Destination for Chocoholics
Ghana has become an even tastier tourist destination this week, after an announcement that it will pioneer a new chocolate tourism scheme.Chocoholics will be pleased to hear that the Ghanaian authorities have designated Valentine's Day as National Chocolate day for the second year running, to support the nation's prolific production of the much-loved confectionary.
Furthermore, its Ministry of Tourism and Diasporan Relations is currently in talks with cocoa processing companies to put measures in place for a behind-the-scenes chocolate experience.
The scheme, which hopes to highlight the "globally acclaimed" quality of the nation's chocolate, could potentially see Ghana become the Cadbury's World of Africa.
In order to celebrate this thriving industry, on National Chocolate Day 75 trained chefs will put on an exhibition of chocolate pastries in Ghana's National Theatre in Accra.
As well as indulging in some chocolaty treats while in Ghana, holidaymakers may also want to visit the nation's national parks and game reserves, which feature antelope, monkeys, lions and elephants.
Its coastline boasts sandy, palm-fringed beaches as well as lagoons where travellers can take part in a range of water sports.
