Flights Launched from Stansted to Amber Coast
A new flight service between London Stansted and Palanga, which is located in Lithuania on the Amber coast, has been launched by flyLAL-Lithuanian Airlines.The new flights to the region, which gained its name after rumours that gold washes up along its beaches, will operate on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Flights will depart from Stansted at 08:15 BST, arriving in Palanga International Airport at 12:50 local time.
On return, flights will leave Palanga at 06:55 local times and arrive in Stansted at 07:25 BST.
Indre Trakimaite, director of the Lithuanian National Tourist Office in the UK, commented on the new flight route.
He said: "Direct flights from London to Palanga offer a splendid opportunity to visit the beautiful Curonian Spit, the seaport of Klaipeda and the popular summer resort Palanga and its Amber Museum, which has the largest amber collection in the world and many other places of interest."
The airline has also announced four new flights per week between London Stansted and Lithuania's capital city, Vilnius.
Founded in September 1991, flyLAL-Lithuanian Airlines is the national carrier of Lithuania and flies from Vilnius and Palanga to 21 destinations around the world.
