Festival-Goers Urged to Not Leave Valuables in Tents

Festival-Goers Urged to Not Leave Valuables in Tents Those travelling to festivals, both in the UK and abroad, this summer are being urged to be security conscious.

Online comparison service moneysupermarket.com told festival-goers to keep personal possessions "locked or safe" at all times.

Peter Gerrard, head of insurance research at moneysupermarket.com, said: "If, for example, you're provided with lockers or safes, then use them."

"You won't be covered if you're just leaving them lying around, say, in your tent or your shared room. If you just leave them lying around then you're seen to be being negligible."

He added that for things likes iPods and cameras the best thing festival-goers can do is carry them around with them, although he noted that this does incur a risk of being pickpocketed.

According to a survey jointly undertaken by swiftcover.co.uk and YouGov, 37 per cent of people have been the victim of theft while visiting Spain, where the Benicassim Festival will take place this year, between July 17th and 20th.
