Eurostar's £59 Return Remains in Place
Eurostar has said it will continue offering cross-Channel fares from the base-rate of £59 return in 2009.The company stated that there has been no increase in the "lead-in" fare since 2003, which can be available on journeys booked up to four months before the date of travel to either central Paris, Disneyland Resort Paris or any station in Belgium.
It advised passengers that they are likely to obtain the best rates by booking in advance and by travelling midweek as opposed to on a weekend.
The company said its £59 return fare is now less than half the price in real terms of the £95 tariff it was offering when the service first opened in 1994.
"We know travellers want good value, so we're offering them the chance to plan an affordable spring break or summer Holiday," commented Eurostar's commercial director Nick Mercer.
Meanwhile, British Airways has revealed what it says will be the long-haul holiday hotspots in 2009.
The national carrier said Cape Town, Johannesburg, Dubai, San Francisco and New York top the list.
