Emirates Expands Airbus Fleet for Dubai Flights

Emirates Expands Airbus Fleet for Dubai Flights The mega airbus, the A380 has made quite an impression since it was introduced and Emirates airline is planning to expand its fleet with yet another aircraft.

The airline is set to add one more 517-seat Airbus A380 to serve flights from Heathrow to Dubai. The airline is taking delivery of the aircraft to be introduced from 1 July this year.

Currently Emirates offers a daily departure from Terminal 3 at Heathrow each afternoon. The new addition to the fleet offers an evening service which will fly direct to Dubai. The first A380 was bought by the airline in December 2008, offering a double decker experience with onboard facilities for passengers that include a lounge and shower spas.

According to a report on the TravelMole website, this move heralds a commitment from Emirates to the London route.

Emirates' senior vice president of commercial operations Salem Obaidalla said: “This is an important development for Emirates as this is the first route where we have made a long term commitment to double up on the double-decker. London Heathrow was one of the key airports we had in mind when the A380 was first conceived and the new deployment allows more passengers travelling to and from the British capital to experience this remarkable aircraft.”

There was great anticipation when the A380 finally made its first appearance after a few flaws in the construction process. The mega jumbo aircraft has many facilities to offer customers, including 14 flat-bed first class suites which are all equipped with electrically operated doors.

In addition, business class passengers can enjoy 76 fully-flat seats with 427 economy seats sited through four cabins on the lower deck.
