Doncaster and Belfast Unite to Encourage Tourism

Doncaster and Belfast Unite to Encourage Tourism Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield and George Best Belfast City Airport have joined forces to promote travel between the two hubs.

As part of the campaign, which is being run in conjunction with Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau, Yorkshire South Tourism and Experience Doncaster, hotels in the surrounding areas will offer up to 50 per cent off standard room rates until the end of March this year.

Europe's largest regional airline, Flybe.com, operates the flight route between the two destinations, which flies 12 times per week.

Craig Dowie, chair of the Experience Doncaster group, said the promotional campaign is the biggest in its history.

He added: "Flybe provides a quality, high-frequency air service between Belfast City and Doncaster Sheffield, already well used by business travellers.

"Our bedroom rates have been slashed, exclusively available to visitors using the Flybe air services between the two airports. It's a great example of tourism partners working together."

Flybe.com began operating flights between Doncaster and Belfast in October 2006 and since then more than 45,000 passengers have used the service.

Experience Doncaster lists a range of sights for holidaymakers to see in the region, including Doncaster Racecourse and Doncaster Dome, which hosts a range of concerts.
