Cunard Launches New Ship And New Destinations
The Cunard Line has revealed its 2011 programme with the news that more agents are to be brought on board to help market the company’s new ship launch.
President and managing director Peter Shanks said: “We will grow by a third with a new ship, so more agents are looking at us a growth opportunity.”
The new ship is the Queen Elizabeth to join the existing Queens Mary and Victoria. The latter is offering new destinations next year, including Mediterranean fly cruises and trips to Fort Lauderdale in Miami from Venice. There is also a planned cruise to Hawaii over the Christmas period.
The new Queen Elizabeth has a number of voyages planned for its maiden run, comprising 22 voyages from between five and 24 nights, sailing from Southampton. The five night cruises are intended to target first time cruisers.
The flagship Queen Mary II is also changing slightly, with longer cruises planned. The ship offers seven night cruises to complement the existing six night transatlantic cruises.
In 2011, there will be a total of 46 different itineraries from Southampton calling at a variety of destinations. Full details are due for release in June.
Mr Shanks continued: “Three new ocean liners in just six years proves the demand for the Cunard brand from guests looking for the best in luxury cruising and the ability to experience a unique sense of heritage, history and tradition.”
“With the anticipation and arrival of Queen Elizabeth, and our biggest ever offering for the UK market for many years, our growth in 2011 is assured - as it is for our valued travel agent partners,” he finished.
