Cruise Holidays are 'Becoming More Popular with Families'

Cruise Holidays are Becoming More Popular with Families Cruise holidays are becoming a more popular option with families, one expert has claimed this week.

According to The Co-operative Travel, which is the UK's largest independent holiday retailer, more mums and dads are setting sail with their offspring, as the industry has become better at catering for this type of customer.

Trevor Davis, of The Co-operative Travel, said: "If you go onto one of these vessels now, they're just incredible – they've got everything.

"They've got surf pools, climbing walls, kids' clubs … they are set up for a family audience…they've gone to a lot of trouble to broaden out their appeal."

He added that some cruise ships are now big enough to allow travellers to have a "whole world of holidays" onboard and are like "mini floating resorts".

In April 2008, The Co-operative Travel revealed that it has seen cruise holiday bookings from families rise by 31 per cent, with this type of customer now accounting for 10 per cent of all cruise passengers.
