Caution Advised When Checking In Baggage
Holidaymakers have been advised by an industry expert to exercise caution when checking in luggage.InsureandGo, the UK's largest direct travel insurance specialist, has said that the current situation regarding lost baggage is a "complete mess" and recommended that travellers make sure they are fully covered for any loss of luggage.
The advice follows research published this week by the firm which revealed that ten per cent of adults in the UK have lost luggage over the last two years and that 31 per cent of travellers do not trust baggage handlers at airports.
Perry Wilson, managing director of InsureandGo, said: "Make sure you don't just rely on those tags that you get from the airline or the airports. Make sure that you have a special tag on there that won't come off at the jerk of a hand, so that if it does get lost they'll know the destination of where you are going to.
"Don't put your home address on there if you are not going home; just put your departure and where you are going to. Make sure it's locked properly, and highly visible and make sure you don't put any valuables in there Keep them in your hand luggage."
InsureandGo was established in 2000 and over two million holidaymakers choose to cover their travels with the firm every year.
