Caribbean Holidays 'Appeal to Sun-Worshipping Brits'
Caribbean holidays are gaining popularity with Brits looking for a slice of adventure with their sun-soaked breaks.
According to Holidays-Direct.co.uk, the Caribbean islands of Barbados and St Lucia are becoming more popular with Brits as the UK's summer sun (or lack of it) fails to persuade them to stay on home soil this season.
Jon Pearce of the Holiday firm explained: "We've seen an uptake in bookings for holidays in Caribbean and Thailand, along with other long haul destinations."
The travel expert added that people are planning ahead to ensure that they have enough money to jet off "somewhere special", in a bid to catch some rays before the summer is out.
He added: "We all need cheering up, so a holiday is a luxury that has become a necessity for many."
Research conducted by Abbey has also found that for 62 per cent of Brits a holiday is important enough to dip into their savings accounts for.
Furthermore, 26 per cent of respondents told Abbey that taking a foreign trip to sun-soaked shores is the best way they can think of to spend their hard-earned cash.
