Brits Set Their Sights on Tropical Trips For 2008

Brits Set Their Sights on Tropical Trips For 2008 Tropical destinations are predicted to be a hot choice for holidaymaking Brits this year.

Mexico and The Caribbean were some of the sunspots outlined by Alpharooms.com's marketing division, while Dubai, Singapore and Cape Town were singled out as likely long haul selections.

"We've seen huge increases in bookings to tropical destinations in particular, such as Malaysia, Mexico and the Caribbean, showing that Brits are keener than ever to guarantee themselves some good weather following the rainy summer we had last year," remarked the holiday accommodation specialist's Gareth Hockey.

He continued: "We believe these record bookings are due to people returning to work and logging onto holiday websites as a way to escape the post-Christmas blues."

Mr Hockey made the comments in the wake of figures revealing that Monday (January 7th) saw record numbers of online travel bookings as the UK returned to work after Christmas.

He noted that while Brits are always open to the idea of a new adventure, existing European favourites such as the Balearic Islands and the Spanish Costas remain popular, particularly for a Package Holiday.

Thomas Cook Holidays is to introduce new routes from Leeds Bradford International to the islands of Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote from winter 2008/09.
