Brits Ignore Debts To Live The City Break Dream Brits are so captivated by city break culture that they are happy to ignore their debts in order to jet off abroad, research from Mintel suggests.

It found that 18 per cent of us would make buying a city break a priority - while just 16 per cent would place becoming free of debt similarly.

Two years ago, a relatively small 14 per cent of us made city breaks a spending priority.

"It is easy to see why weekends away to mainly European destinations are fast becoming a very popular way to beat the humdrum of the working week. With return flights to many cities from as little as £50 per person, it is now an option not just afforded by the wealthy," the firm observed.

Budget airlines have made most areas of Europe more accessible to tourists than ever before, with new routes to different locations still being announced frequently.
