Boozy Brits Give Nation a Bad Reputation
Boozy Brits that cannot handle their alcohol are giving the nation a terrible tourism reputation, one expert has said this week.
According to online comparison service Travelsupermarket.com, UK Holidaymakers are now thought to be among the worst tourists on the globe, due to their partying ways.
Bob Atkinson, a travel expert for Travelsupermarket.com, said: "There are a huge number of British people who travel abroad who do a superb job of representing us as a nation.
"Where we fall down is we drink too much, we are certainly known for not handling our drink and we are also known for fuelling major hotspots of young kids getting off their faces on drink."
He added that in particular groups of Brits heading abroad for stag and hen parties "do not do much to help with that reputation".
Research published by Halifax last month revealed that the majority of Brits abroad do not leave their resorts for any significant amount of time during the holiday.
Furthermore, three quarters of package holiday Brits make no attempt to speak the local language and 42 per cent of these holidaymakers do not talk to residents of the country they are visiting during their trip.
