American Airlines Voted Best International Airline
American Airlines has been voted the Best International Airline 2007 by readers of Travel Weekly.Travel Weekly announced the award at a recent ceremony, revealing that American Airlines was chosen from a list of five finalists which included British Airways, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines and Virgin Atlantic.
Around 5,000 Travel Weekly readers voted for the US airline, which included travel agents and marketing executives as well as holidaymakers themselves.
Kurt Stache, vice president and general sales manager of the US division of American Airlines, said: "We appreciate the travel agency community and all the other Travel Weekly readers who recognised [our] achievements in international flying.
"These travel experts clearly recognise the great experience that American Airlines now offers the international traveller, including our new Business Class Cabins aboard our 767s, our great food and award-winning wine selections, and the expansion of our Flagship Suites in First Class on all our Boeing 777s."
He added that the airline now offers international travellers a new $1.3 billion (£6.4 billion) terminal at New York's JFK International Airport a well as improved facilities at its Dallas and Miami hubs.
American Airlines is the world's largest airline flying to 250 cities in over 40 countries operating more than 4,000 daily flights.
