Algarve In Top 10 Places to Holiday in August
Portugal's Algarve has been recommended to tourists as one of the best places to take a break this August.
Condé Nast Traveller magazine ranked the Mediterranean nation in the world's top ten destinations for visiting next month, which is traditionally Portugal's hottest.
"Think Algarve and you'll probably picture a place colonised by English and German holidaymakers," it said.
However, the publication continued to dispel this belief, advising travellers of another side to the Algarve which is peppered with orange groves and boasts a "red-cliffed coastline and idyllic whitewashed Moorish villages".
According to the Lonely Planet travel guide, the Portuguese region is a "holiday heaven", with unspoilt islands, traditional old towns, and wooded hills for holidaymakers to explore.
It adds that the region features hot summer temperatures, stunning scenery, and seas warm enough to swim in with comfort.
